About Me & The Blog

I am but one in over a billion…

Umm Yusuf is….A small town southern girl who had thought that she had lost her religion. Later, she was proven wrong when she found it in Islam. But that was just the beginning……much drama, tears, happiness and a million other emotions followed… and the story contines……
My goal for this blog is to share my experiences as a muslim convert and share Islamic information. If you are looking for debates then this is not the place for you as i will not indulge in debating or arguing my religion or way of life. However, if you are here to share your ideas and experiences in an intelligent way and with an open mind then welcome and enjoy!

I am not a writer. I do not profess or aspire to be one. My entries probably have plenty of gramatical errors and while I use spell check, I’m sure there are some misspelled words. But try to look beyond the writing to the core message of my posts. My mission is to get the ideas across as bumpy as the writing may be. 😀

Hi. tnx for dropping a visit at my page. i have a soft spot in my heart for muslim people and i really don’t know how it all began. i am exposed to muslim friends when i was younger due to the location of my hometown — very near to the only islamic city in my country. it’s been awhile already that am having the thoughts on converting into islam but i just don’t know where to start.

Yes, you’ve put together a very nice blog indeed. I’m glad to see so many thoughtful Muslims doing this now; I converted 20 years ago, and for many of those years felt isolated, not fully part of the immigrant community but not able to fully participate in my old social circles anymore. I do believe another aspect of your da’wah is in throwing fellow converts a sort of lifeline by providing such a positive, constructive connection through your blog, “enjoining the good” as the Qu’ran instructs us to do.

Dear Sister

Jus wanted to appreciate you on the undisputed way you follow with your blog, n i suppose if deeds are an indication of the life one leads, i suppose you do the same in your life too.

It feels very nice to know that there are still many who think out of the box and onto the true path.

Read ur post on Hazrat Fatima(r.a)

Brought tears to my eyes.

n then wandered onto ur other posts…

Islam has always highly regarded women, and i believe rightfully so.

Do carry on the good work

InshaAllah, Allah will amply reward you for the same.

P.S: Was moreso moved bcs not one of those so called claimed “encyclopedias n authoritian”sites of Islam, could give me the knowledge and vision i wanted in such an unbiased manner.

May you be rewarded amply.

Salam Sister,
Great Blog..may Allah reward u for this. Just wanted to say that in Islam the concept is that all are born Muslims, so when one becomes a Muslim, he/she actually REVERTS and not CONVERTS (as most people say).

I hope you will also start using this, so that it can get people thinking, and hopefully Allah SWT may show them the guidance insha’Allah.

Thank u and keep up the great work!

Assalamwalekum Sister !

First things first, you said that you’re a “Muslim Convert”. I don’t agree with that. Don’t blame me because, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said “Each child is born in a state of “Fitrah” (Means every child is born with a natural belief in Allah and an inborn inclination to worship Him alone called in Arabic the “Fitrah”)
Dear Sister you just reverted to Islam. And i must say that i am jealous of you. Cuz, I as a born muslim may not realize the favor Allah has bestowed on us. And the people who revert back to Islam, love the deen more than we do.
I conclude that Allah has chosen you.

Remember me in you Prays

asalamwaleikum, i have written these islamic poems, could you post them on your website, jazak Allah khairun

The miracle, the Quran

So brothers and sisters, to increase your iman
Read the miracle, read the Quran
Here’s a fact for the ones who are keener
86 surahs revealed in Mecca, 28 in Medinah
Read it every day and to read it be proud
The word Quran means to read it aloud
Read the book from the Lord of the worlds
Over 6,000 verses and 77,000 words
Read with respect,no disturbance, no laughters
from Al Fatiha to An naas, all 114 chapters
And in it 14 times you need to prostrate
And say Allah ho Akbar, meaning Allah is great
In this book, 25 prophets are mentioned by name
Who came at different times but their message was the same
This miracle was revealed over a 23 year span
Sent from Allah(swt), to an angel and then to a man
That man was Muhammed (saws), the best of creation
And we are proud to be part of his nation
He gave us a message and that was Islam
So read this miracle, read the Quran

Muhammed (saws)

What a year was 570 AD
A person was born, a prophet to be
Muhammed (saws) that was his name
People were misguided and thats when he came
He would go on to leave all the idols behind
He is an example to all of mankind
Rabbi al Awwal the 12th, that was the day
He came to this world to show us the way
He was born in Mecca, the holiest place
A life full of challenges he was to face
Abdullah(ra) his father, had by then passed away
Leaving Amina (ra)his mother,in her arms he lay
Haalima Sadia,took over his care
Until he was six,our prophet was there
His mother then died,he was left all alone
Abdul Muttalib(ra) his grand-dad then made him his own
When our prophet was eight, his grandfather died
Abu Talib, his uncle, became his new guide
In his 20’s,a merchant Muhammed (saws) became by trade
Al-Amin,(the trustworthy) became his grade
Hazrat Khadija(ra)aged 40, became his bride
He was 25, with her by his side
To the poor, she gave away all her wealth
A dedicated wife in sickness and health
360 idols in the Kaaba, they were at that time
Our prophet realised that this was a crime
He would go to mount Hira, leaving behind his wife
Reflecting and wondering about the meaning of life
Whilst thinking there in the midst of the night
He heard a loud voice which filled him with fright
It was the angel Gibrail(as) who asked him to read
Our prophet couldn’t and didnt take heed
The angel embraced him and thern asked him later
Read, Read in the name of the Creator
Who created man from a drop of blood
Our prophet couldn’t read but at that time he could
Our prophet rushed to the path straight ahead
He heard a voice from the heavens which said
Muhammed(saws) truly you are the messenger of God
Muhammed (saws) was scared and thought this quite odd
‘Praise be to God’ his wife said instead
”I know you’ve been chosen as God’s messenger’ she said
And thus Khadija (ra) became the first woman of islam
And over the next 23 years came the revelation, the Quran
He preached to all people, every creed every race
Yet so many hardships he had to face
There were fears for his life, then the Hijrah took place
He then entered Medina, all by Allah’s grace
He was greeted by the Ansaris who gave salutation
To him and his companians, who did the migration
Then came the battles, which were fought face to face
Then the conquest of Mecca,Muhammed (saws)’s birthplace
An Nasr was revealed, it’s message was clear
Muhammed (saws) knew that his time was near
Everyone gathered to hear his last speech
little did they know how far Allah’s message would reach
Muhammed (saws) gave us the miracle the Quran
And now a 1/4 of the world follow Islam
He is our role-model, the best of mankind
And has left the Quran and his Sunnah behind
Read the Quran as much as you can
The words of Allah(swt) for the guidance of man
And follow our prophet’s sunnah, when eating and dressing
And send him salutations and many a blessing
He came to mankind to show us the way
And Insha-Allah,we’ll meet him,we’ll meet him one day

What is the purpose of this life?

What is the purpose of this life?
Money, holidays, a beautiful wife?
There is no point in us denying
Each heart beat brings us closer to dying
You’ll breathe your last
Your life will have past
Don’t pretend
Death’s not the end
You will taste death, death never waited
Look around you, everything’s created
It has a creator, it has a meaning
A mother gives birth and then comes it’s weaning
The sun rises and gives us light
It sets, then falls, the blanket of night
The plants all grow, when falls the rain
They give fruits to man, and they too will wane
Why does man think that he will get away?
Spending life aimlessly, as if he’s here to stay
A fixed time is appointed, everything will perish
Everything you hate, everything you relish
Except the Almighty Allah, He will remain
And then will come judgement, all on one plain
Allah will say, I gave you life
I gave you health, wealth and a wife
What did you do with your time?
What did you do in your prime?
Did you spread my message, did you spread islam?
Why not? Did you not read the Quran?
My friends, we muslims, we are so blessed
Allah gave us islam to supercede all the rest
My non-muslim friends, the Quran must be read
Read before it’s too late and you’re dead
You owe it to yourselves, it will make you cry
You’ll know these words are from the Lord most High
Instructing mankind to the purpose of life
And the reward my friends is everlasting life
Our purpose is to worship our Lord most High
The reward is heaven where no one will die
You’ll have anything you want, all the best dishes
And Almighty Allah will grant all of your wishes
This life my friends is just a cage
We should live by His orders, to be safe from his rage
You will understand when you read the holy Quran
You’ll know the religion of truth is islam
Protect yourself and your families from hell
Embrace islam and all will be well
For the deeds of this life, you’ll pay the price
In the depths of hell or in paradise

SALAH

Salah is a basic pillar of islam
It is mentioned again and again in the Quran
The importance of prayer is in seven hundred places
But in the mosque,do you see many young faces?
Praying in the mosque gives 27 times the reward
Pray with the intention that you’re pleasing your Lord
When you walk to the mosque, just remember within
You gain a reward and you’re losing a sin
For every step towards your destination
This is a blessing from Allah swt to his creation
Make amends before you are dead
‘say your prayers before your prayers are said’
while seeing elders pray at the mosque door
remember as a young person, your reward is 70 times more
read salah punctually, read it with care
on judgement day, we will be asked about prayer
that’s the first question, so take this advice
salah is the key to paradise
spread this word to muslim sisters and brothers
salah will separate muslims from others
salah is a blessing which Allah swt gave
it will intercede and protect us in the grave
when it comes eventually, to the day of rising
the believers body washed by wudu will be shining
for the believers who are regular in offering salaat
it becomes a light of guidance on the pul-siraat
the ayat-ul-kursi after fard, should be read
it will lead you to paradise (insha Allah) after you’re dead
not reading salah will lead you to hell
surrounded by serpants in a deep well
read your salah whilst still in your prime
and read the durood in all your spare time
you’ll get ten rewards, the Lord (insha Allah) will accept your pleas
and you’ll be closer to Allah swt by ten more degrees
so embrace islam with all your heart
and remember the key is reading salaat

WOMEN IN ISLAM

How do women fit into islam? What is their fate?
This has been the subject of many a debate
‘for the believing men and women, is a great reward’
this is from surah al azaab, the words of our Lord
it can be seen from reading the holy Quran
that a woman has some privilege over a man
praying is exempted during menstruation
here islam gives women consideration
a woman after marriage becomes a wife
for nine long months she carries new life
during childbirth she is exempted to fast
islam is against the burying of girls in the past
they can pray at the mosque or even at home
they may marry or divorce ,its their choice, their own
after marriage she can retain her old maiden name
and is rewarded for treating all her offspring the same
once they are married they should live pious lives
‘and the best men are those who are best to their wives’
islam shows equality my sisters and brothers
don’t forget paradise lies at the feet of your mothers
women in the UK had property rights from 1938
this right was given by islam, 14 centuries to date
in the UK , women could vote from 1918
this was stated 1400 years ago in islam our deen
women can work and lead a happily married life
but shouldn’t neglect her role as mother and wife
a woman for her child’s upbringing, deserves her credit
islam also gives a woman the right to inherit
a woman’s status in islam, we should never neglect
in islam they are favoured and deserve their respect

THE TORMENTS OF HELL

If only you knew the torments of hell
It is the worst of places where anyone could dwell
It is in existence even as we speak
And for its inhabitants the outlook is bleak
On the day of rising, hell will be in view
A terrible sight, if only you knew
It will be brought forward by 70,000 reigns
And 70,000 angels will be on each of those chains
After burning for a thousand years , it’s flames turned white
A thousand more years, now it’s as black as the night
You think the flames are bearable, you’re totally wrong
The flames are of hell are seventy times as strong
In a flash it will disintegrate all of your bones
The hellfire will be fuelled by man and stones
The thickness of your skin will greatly increase
Causing your threshold for pain to greatly decrease
The people in hell are there to stay
They will melt to nothing, 70,000 times in a day
70 years it will take, for a stone that is thrown
to hit the bottom of hell and it won’t be alone
the food of hell resembles a devil’s head
and to drink, boiling water and blood bright red
which cuts up the bowels, everything will fall out
the inhabitants of hell will scream and shout
some will be taken out by Almighty Allah’s command
but the polytheists will stay eternally damned
take up islam, the only way to succeed
and if you don’t, you’re unfortunate indeed
brothers and sisters, help determine your fate
once you see hellfire, it’ll be far too late

LIFE AFTER DEATH

You only live once so sit back and enjoy
No time for sorrows so fill it up with joy
This way of thinking is totally wrong
Our total existence is forever long
Life is for eternity its stages are four
The first is in the womb, but hold on there’s more
The second is from birth until the moment we die
The third takes place in the place where we lie
Barzakh is it’s name until judgement day
The fourth is eternity and in heaven we pray!
The soul splits from the body at the time we die
Then with the angel of death, they both will fly
If the person is pious, the angel looks handsome
And the wicked will wish, that they could ransom
For the pious, the soul is taken on a piece of silk
Eventually, they’re in heaven with rivers of milk
The evil person’s soul is dragged out with pain
Then they know, their life was in vain
When Allah swt gives the order, the soul is returned
Either to a bed of paradise, or else to be burned
The soul is returned, while the family are grieving
And then he is questioned while his loved ones are leaving
At that time the person will be in such a state
He is asked three questions which determine his fate
He will be panicking, his heart full of fear
When he sees the angels, Munkar and Nakeer
He will be asked about his God, religion and what did he say
About the person who appears in front of him that day
That will be Muhammed saws, the best of creation
The pious will recognise him, from his own nation
After answering rightly they are saved from the ordeal
Of the torments of the grave, which to us seem unreal
Their grave is extended and in peace they stay
They will praise Allah swt and continue to pray
A window of paradise is seen and they sleep in bliss
Whereas the unbelievers grave becomes hell’s abyss
Creatures are let loose on their fronts and back
Their graves close in until their ribs will crack
They are in constant agony until judgement day
Nothing will help, it will be too late to pray
They will know because of themselves, their future is wrecked
But they won’t have a clue what to further expect
For the believer , it passes like a good night’s sleep
His good deeds have been done, the rewards he shall keep
Judgement day will pass like the time for a prayer
At the speed of light he crosses the bridge, thin as a hair
And before he knows it, he is in paradise
Whereas the unbeliever, will be paying his price
This life is a journey, death isn’t the end
Real life goes on, so don’t just pretend
So prepare now, we’re not here to stay
Follow islam, the key is to pray
Brothers and sisters take this advice
You’ll be proud of yourself, when in paradise!

PARADISE
Whatever we do, we’ll pay the price
In the depths of hell or in paradise
For the believer ,this life is just like a cage
For the unbeliever, it’s the ultimate stage
Little does he know about the awaiting reward
Which is full of luxuries, where no-one gets bored
You’ll enter the gate of paradise, if it’s in your fate
Your deeds and actions will determine by which gate
No worldly things will you ever miss
On entering the gate, you’ll be surrounded by bliss
Four rivers will be granted by the Divine
containing water and milk, honey and wine
People will live in mansions built high
Where they’ll live forever, no-one will die
It’s bricks will be made of silver and gold
The climate will be perfect, not hot and not cold
A hundred years it will take to circle a tree
Surrounded by loved ones for all eternity
There will be no calls of nature, no-one will sleep
There will be no worries, no one will weep
When people sweat, it will smell of musk
Allah swt will be praised from dawn till dusk
Everyone will be aged 30 or 33
And they’ll stay at that age for eternity
The inhabitants will be wearing a beautiful green gown
Sitting on thrones, wearing a crown
People will be happy, there’ll be no remorse
To visit others, they’ll have a flying horse
Men will have 2 houris as their wives
Who will remain with them for the rest of their lives
On Friday there will be a dinner for people of all races
And a bazaar where people can exchange their faces!
When walking along there’ll be many meetings
With prophets and angels, exchanging greetings
Such is the ecstasy that will then prevail
When Allah swt removes His veil
There will be no kings, there will be no peasants
And everyone will see the Divine Allah’s presence
There are 100 levels to paradise and we should pray
That Al Firdaus, the highest will be where we stay
Allah swt has showered us with His grace
And we have to be worthy to show our face
Whatever we do ,we’ll pay the price
In the depths of hell or in paradise

Do you really know this man?

Muhammed saws, to mankind is dear
but have you ever thought, how did he appear?
his height was above average, he had a sturdy build
to protect him, his companions would even have killed
his hair was lengthy, wavy and strong
his forehead was prominent, his eyelashes long
his eyes were black with a touch of brown
he met with a smile, hardly a frown
his beard was thick, that’s what they say
mainly black and some hairs were grey
a thin line of hair over his neck and chest
when sat at a gathering, he outshone all the rest
his nose was sloping, his cheeks were spare
he was so handsome with a complexion so fair
his gait was firm and he walked quite fast
only the energetic could keep up and last
he would speak so calmly, no signs of violence
he would often sit, in total silence
he would explain to people about our deen
he had few clothes, but they were spotlessly clean
he explained that muslims were united as brothers
and therefore to overlook the faults of others
to perfect ourselves in the path of islam
to seek knowledge to strengthen our imaan
muhammed saws is the best of creation
and from his example, we should gain inspiration
his friend Abu bakr (r.a) once said
two lines about him, here’s how it read
‘as there is no darkness in the moonlit night
so is mustafa saws, the well-wisher bright’

A dua a day keeps
the devil away!

let me teach you a simple dua
when leaving the toilet, say Ghuffranaka(1)
when entering the toilet, don’t think twice
say Allahumaaini auzubika minal khubsi wal khabaais(2)
before drinking say bismillah(3)
and end with al hamdullilah(4)
when sneezing, say al hamdullilah
and on hearing this yar hamoo kallah(5)
on remembering a bad deed, whilst in your car
sincerely repent saying Asthagfirullah(6)
just before you sleep, don;t count a star
say Allahuma bismika amootu va ahya(7)
three words light to the mouth heavy in reward
subhan Allah(8), Al hamdullila, Allah ho akbar(9)
let’s praise the Lord!

1 I seek forgiveness from Allah (on exiting the toilet with your right foot)
2 Oh lord I seek refuge from the filth and the filthy (on entering the toilet with your left foot)
3 in the name of Allah
4 praise be to Allah
5 may Allah’s mercy be upon you
6 I seek forgiveness from Allah
7 Oh Allah, in your name we die and we live
8 Glory to Allah
9 Allah is great

Adam and Eve

This is the story of Adam and Eve
for all of you people, just read and believe
at first the whole world contained just the jinn
then they began indulging in sin
the angels were sent to drive them away
then Adam (as) was created from clay
from his left rib came Eve(ra), his beautiful wife
they lived in paradise, enjoying their life
the angels bowed to Adam (as) on Allah’s command
except iblis (the devil), he was eternally dammed
time went past and they spotted a tree
iblis told them it was immortality’s key
the devil thought himself superior and clever
and asked the two if they fancied living forever
all they had to do was to eat from the tree
this was forbidden by Allah, the very same tree
the devil made one eat and the other ate too
Allah was angry and out of heaven they flew
they had to leave heaven for only this deed
the devil was cursed, he deserved it indeed
Adam (as) and Eve (ra) to the earth they fell
they had angered the Almighty and hadn’t done well
they realised the devil had led them astray
and on earth they repented and continued to pray
their repentence was accepted, from their mistake they learned
now to re-enter heaven, this had to be earned
iblis rejoiced,’ I have fulfilled my aim’
I’ll mislead all your offspring, I’ll treat them the same
i will continue to mislead them until it’s too late
a hundred lusts inside them I’ll create
so brothers and sisters, don’t let him succeed
he will lead us to hell, an evil place indeed
think about death, we haven’t got long
our aim is to prove that the devil is wrong
realise our purpose, don’t stray, don’t get bored
we were created only to worship our Lord
live as a muslim, 24/7
then insha Allah we’ll meet, we’ll all meet in heaven

Assalamu Alekium sister,

This is indeed a fantastic blog….you say that you’re not a writer but I respectfully disagree. You have your own voice and style and it sounds wonderful. Please keep writing for the love of Allah SWT as the deen needs you. Once I figure out how to set up a blogroll (yeah, I’m THAT new to this whole blogging thing!) I would love to add you if that’s OK.

Your sister on the path to Jannah,

Noor 🙂

In the name of Allah, the master of the Day of Judgment.

Assalamu Aleikum,
I feel little bit sad to give my comment. There are many blogs and sites in the name of Islam but their real intention is to misinterpret the Islam. I don’t think you are one among them. I can’t justify your writings since I am not much into religion though I am a Muslim. If your intention is to glorify the Islam, I am sure you will have one day in your life, that day you will see the result.
